Stock a cane people actually want to be seen with

Clover Canes makes one thing properly: a carbon-fibre walking cane, made to be light enough that it gets carried, adjustable enough to be fitted correctly, and good-looking enough that it doesn’t sit in the hall cupboard. It retails at AUD$159 in twenty patterns. We’re Australian owned, we’re a Registered NDIS Provider, and we ship from our own warehouse in Silverwater, NSW.

We’re now opening the trade range to pharmacies, mobility and independent-living retailers, allied health practices, and aged-care and retirement-village suppliers.

Who stocks Clover Canes

Independent pharmacies — where a cane is bought in the same visit as a script, usually by someone who has just been told to use one and would rather not.

Mobility and independent-living retailers — as the premium option beside the aluminium range, for customers who came in for a cane and left with the one they liked.

Occupational therapy and physiotherapy practices — for clinicians who prescribe an aid and want the client to still be using it in six months. There’s a separate page for you: For Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

Aged-care providers, retirement villages and home-care suppliers — where the cane is one line on a much longer independent-living list, and the difference between a resident who walks and one who doesn’t is worth more than the margin on a cane.

The customer a $159 cane brings through your door

The honest version of this pitch is that we are not the cheapest cane on your shelf and we’re not trying to be. A generic adjustable aluminium cane sells for $79 to $124 and it does the job. What it does not do is bring you a particular kind of customer.

The person who buys a Clover Cane is buying a cane they have chosen rather than one they’ve been issued. They’re usually in their fifties, sixties or seventies, still working or recently retired, mobile, and quietly furious about needing a stick at all. They will pay $159 to not look frail. Our own data says something useful about them: they come back. Roughly one in six of our orders is from an existing customer, without us running a single loyalty campaign — they return for replacement tips, for a second cane in a different pattern, or to buy one for a parent.

For a retailer that means three things. The basket is bigger. The customer is not price-shopping, because there is nothing else on the shelf that looks like it. And they have a reason to come back to you, because tips wear out.

Why it sells off a shelf

It’s a three-second demonstration. You hand it to someone, they feel the weight — from 260g, depending on the model — and their face changes. Then it folds down into a handbag, and that’s the sale.

The rest of the specification does the work after the sale:

  • Carbon fibre, 260–380g depending on model, rated to 113kg
  • Five-step height adjustment, 740–1040mm across the range, so one cane can be fitted properly rather than approximately
  • Three lengths — Petite, Standard and Grande — fitting users to 165cm, 189cm and 213cm respectively
  • Folding, into a bag, a car door pocket or a hospital tray
  • AirTouch shock-absorbing tip, our own design: an EVA core sandwiched in rubber, so the jolt through the wrist on a hard floor is cushioned rather than transmitted
  • Twenty patterns, which is the part that moves stock

Trade price list

Stockists earn a 40% margin at our $159 recommended retail price, rising to 45% at 25 canes or more. Full trade price list on request.

There is no premium for a particular pattern or length — all twenty patterns and all three sizes are the same price. The 25+ rate counts canes across the whole range, so a mixed order of patterns and lengths qualifies.

Stock the tips. Every cane arrives with an AirTouch tip fitted, and every tip eventually wears out. It’s the reason a cane customer comes back through your door rather than ours, it carries the same 50% margin as the small accessories, and it’s the line most stockists under-order. Six canes and six tips is a better opening order than twelve canes.

Terms

Minimum order. Your opening order is 6 canes, in whatever mix of patterns and lengths you choose. There is no minimum on reorders. Canes ship 25 to a carton, which is the volume-rate threshold.

Freight. Standard shipping is free on all orders over $70, so in practice every trade order ships free. We dispatch from our Silverwater, NSW warehouse within 2 business days; standard delivery is 3–16 business days Australia-wide, longer for WA, NT and rural addresses. Express is a $15 flat rate, 1–4 days. Local pickup from Silverwater is available the next business day.

Payment. Trade orders are paid at the time of order, the same as any other customer. Once we’ve traded together we’re happy to talk about account terms.

Warranty. One year from purchase on the cane itself, covering the material. The AirTouch tip is a consumable and sits outside the warranty — it wears with use and is meant to be replaced. Faults come back to us, not to you: email support@clovercanes.com with proof of purchase.

Returns. Within 30 days, in original condition with the original packaging and accessories. Change-of-mind returns are at your cost; anything faulty or damaged gets a prepaid return label from us.

NDIS invoicing, handled

Clover Canes is a Registered NDIS Provider. A walking cane sits comfortably inside low-cost assistive technology — items under $1,500, funded from a participant’s core budget under consumables, with no quote or prior approval needed from the NDIA where the participant has funds available.

In practice that means a plan-managed or self-managed participant can walk into your shop and buy one, and the paperwork is not your problem. We’ll provide compliant invoices with the participant’s details and NDIS number, addressed to a plan manager where needed, for any sale you flag to us. If you’d rather not touch NDIS billing at all, we can invoice the participant or plan manager directly and pay you the margin — tell us which you prefer when you open the account.

We already take direct orders by bank transfer from plan managers every month, so this is a process we run routinely, not a promise.

How to apply

Applying takes about two minutes.

  1. Send us your details — business name, ABN, trading address, website, and roughly what you sell now. Use the form below, or email support@clovercanes.com with “Trade enquiry” in the subject.
  2. We’ll come back within two business days with the trade price list, the opening order options and the NDIS invoicing arrangement.
  3. Your account is approved and you order online at trade prices, whenever you need to.

An ABN is required — trade accounts are for businesses only.

Not sure yet? Ask for the stockist enquiry pack and we’ll send the price list, the margin, the freight terms and photographs of the range, with nothing to sign.

Questions we’re asked most

Do we have to carry all twenty patterns? No. Most stockists start with six they’ve chosen themselves and add the ones that sell.

Will you sell direct to customers in our area? Yes — clovercanes.com stays open, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. What we will do is list you on the stockist locator and send local customers who want to see a cane in person to you.

Do you supply to NDIS participants directly? Yes, and we’ll keep doing that. Being a stockist doesn’t cut across it; a participant who wants to touch one before buying is better served by you.

Can we get a sample first? Yes. Ask, and we’ll send one.

What about warranty and faults? One year on the cane, and faults come back to us rather than to you. The AirTouch tip sits outside the warranty — it’s a consumable and wears with use, which is also why it’s a trade line worth stocking.
